The Institute of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (ICM), the principal house of which is located in the city of Rome, was founded by Mother Marie Louise De Meester in Mulagumoodu, in south India, in 1897, under the title Missionary Canonesses of St. Augustin.
The specific aim of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, who have assumed this title from 1963, is exclusive dedication to the Mission “ad gentes”, proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ by means of the word and witness of their lives to those who do not yet know Jesus Christ.
